Women travellers have reported varying degrees of harassment from local lads on the public beaches. This may even happen on the private beaches belonging to the upmarket hotels, to which you should report anything immediately. On the public beaches, foreign women will feel far more relaxed (but not necessarily more comfortable) wearing loose shirts and baggy shorts.
