Is it really that much more spectacular than other desert landscapes in the middle East. I could not care if I ever saw another camel again and do not think the landscape looks to much different that the desert around Kerman in Iran. Why does everyone say it is a highlight? I'm struggling to be sold on it.

Appreciate honest opinions and whether anyone who has travelled a lot on this part of the world will be disappointed, especially given the cost.

Train

I see train tracks on a map of Jordan. Does anybody know about train service? Timetables, costs, stops. etc.?

We are planning a 10 day trip to Jordan in April. We'd like to see a mix of the country's highlights, including:

Amman
Petra
Jerash
Madaba
Dead Sea
Aqaba
Wadi Rum

Obviously this is a fairly standard itinerary, but I was particularly wondering:

  1. For people who have done it in a similar timeframe to what we have, how many days you'd devote to each place?
  2. How many days you recommend for Petra?
  3. Whether the Jordan Pass is value for money in this case?
  4. How easy it is to get around by public…

Hi Folks,

I'm planning to visit Jordan in early Dec and wanted to use the Jordan Pass. Has anyone used it recently and are they still valid? I've heard some talk that they are not being accepted.

Thanks in advance

I will be travelling by myself and will be arriving in Amman, Jordan at Queen Alia airport on September 28 around 8:30PM. I was just wondering if anyone will be there at a similar time to share a private car or taxi to go directly to Petra without going to the bus station to take the bus.

Hello,

We are looking for suggestions for an 11 day itinerary of Jordan (2 adults and 2 kids aged 9 and 8). We fly into Amman on 1 December at 2:00pm and fly out of Amman on 12 December at noon. I understand getting a Jordan Pass (includes visa and 40 sites incl Petra) is the way to go for the adults. I also understand that kids under 12 get into all sites for free but we will have to get them a visa on arrival at 40 JOD???

In terms of the itinerary, we would like to at least fit in the main…

My husband and I will be in Jordan for 9 days in January and we're trying to fit as much as possible into this short time. We are planning to drive ourselves with a rental.

We arrive in Amman at 4:15am on January 14 and our plan is to pick up rental car and drive to Madaba
Spend 2 nights in Madaba (spending one day in Amman during that time)
We'll be going to Mount Nebo, Bethany, and the Dead Sea before heading to Petra
2 nights near Petra, then leave for Wadi Rum in afternoon
Wadi Rum for…

Hi,

New to the forum so hello to everyone!

Jordan has been at the top of my list for a while now and as I recently quit my job and have a bit of spare time, i thought now would be the perfect time to visit. I'm not a "seasoned" traveler, due to previous work commitments most of my travels in the past have been long weekends or week trips so I haven't had much experience traveling within countries (usually just visit one city at the time).

I would like to see and visit as much as i can whilst…
