HI, I am going in August to Hokkaido and I have problems to buy the tickets (2 persons and a car) for the ferry to Rebun as the page is only in Japanase.
Does someone know how to do it? Or does someone know some agency which does it?
Anybody interested in climbing Mt. Fuji on June 11 or 12? I am aware of the risks related to off-season climbing, but will likely only have this one chance at a summit attempt.
This itinerary is based on three anchors: Tokyo – Japan Alps – Kyoto. I’ve built it mainly using lonely-planet guide and some forum reading. I would greatly appreciate your feedback, especially if there’s something in the itinerary you think I can strike (or replace with something else). Incidentally, you are more than welcome to add stuff you think are a must that are not on the list at the moment.
A few things to consider:
1. Our trip will last from Oct. 1st to Oct. 18th. A…
I've only got 2 days in Kyoto and want to stay in a nice (but not luxury = expensive) ryokan. For example something like Seikoro Ryokan (sold out during my dates). Which ryokan can you highly recommend?
Also, if you don't a specific ryokan in mind, where do you think I should try to concentrate my search for a nice ryokan experience; Southern Higashiyama, Northern Higashiyama or Downtown Kyoto?
I would like to see the Doroyko Gorge. I Have seen that there is a boat that goes 2 hours throughout the gorge.
I Have many doubts:
1- How I can go from shingu to the doroyko gorge ? can anyone tell me which bus and from where Ihave to take?
2- After the gorge I would like to go Hongu. Shall I have to come back to shingu and take a bus to Hongu ? I do not know if Hongu is near the gorge....
3- There is only one boat or there are differents companies that leave from diferent places?
I would like to visit okinawa in July from Korea. I want to visit mangrove forest and it seems like there are two islands (shimajiri and iriomote island) have mangroves.
I don't speak Japanese and thinking about exploring remote Japanese islands gives me little anxiety.
I would appreciate any advise on ways to get to these two islands from Naha (okinawa island).
If anyone is planning to explore okinawa prefecture islands in July feel free to contact me...
I'm going to Korea in August and plan to visit Japan for one week. I would be interested to get your feedback on potential itineraries. My daughter and I enjoy cities but would like to see the countryside too. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'll be in Japan for two weeks at the end of June, and traveling with one more person. One week is reserved for travel - arrival in Tokyo, and destination in Kyoto. Plans are still somewhat tentative, but will likely include Nikko, the Fuji five lakes region, maybe Nagano. We're two people with more than just a travel backpack full of luggage (primary reason for the trip is professional).
Due to the luggage, the limited amount of time available (waiting for a public transport…
I'm planning a 3-week trip to Japan in February 2017. The current rough plan (nothing booked yet!) is:
Fly into Osaka
Days 1-4 - Osaka (including Nara day trip)
Days 5-8 - Kyoto
Days 9-12 - undecided
Days 13-16 - Skiing in Nagano area
Days 17-24 - Tokyo (including Fuji-Q day trip, perhaps other day trips)
Fly out of Tokyo
I'm stuck on a place (or places) to go in the middle. We'd like to see something more rural or traditional - a contrast to Osaka and Tokyo. I'd been thinking of Kanazawa…
Ok so basic bit of background info here, im an 25 year old male from the UK and i've decided to defer my university graduation untill 2017 to take a gap year.
I started my trip in Thailand, moving on to Laos, Cambodia. Now I am heading to Japan for 3 weeks. I wish to take the Transsiberian train to Moscow from Japan (ferry to Vladivostok first). I plan to go off the train in Irkutsk and Ekaterinburg for a day or two.
My main challenge now is the visa for Russia. Does anyone here have done it…
