Six floors of appealing products for your children to fall in lust with and which you may still be paying for next year. In fact, you yourself may be seduced by plastic-bobbled barrettes, Pokémon paraphernalia or nostalgia-inducers such as Hello Kitty or Ultraman and an entire Snoopy floor. Claustrophobes should avoid the store at weekends when it teems with teens.

    A treasure trove of toys and trinkets

    A woman recently told me that when she found out she was pregnant her husband promptly jumped on a plane, with an empty suitcase, to go shopping for his baby-to-be in, generally - Tokyo, specifically - Kiddyland. Normally such a story would have me inwardly deploring such worship at the Temple of Mammon, while Lady Gaia (no, not Gaga) chokes on the carbons being emitted by this gratuitously short trip. This time I thought ‘what on EARTH were you doing staying at home?’

    Kiddyland is a ‘kawaii!’ (cute!) sparkly star in the firmament of a happy, bouncy, pink, plush toyland universe ..

    Ps: Yes, I am aware that makes me a hypocrite. I don’t care.
