Lonely Planet review for Daiwa Sushi
Waits of over one hour are commonplace at Tsukiji’s most famous sushi bar, but it’s all worth it once you’re past the noren (curtains) and your first piece of sushi hits the counter. Unless you’re comfortable ordering in Japanese, the standard set (seven nigiri, plus maki and miso soup) is a good bet; there’s a picture menu. Though the staff may be too polite to say so, you’re expected to eat and run so others can partake in this quintessential Tsukiji experience.

Daiwa Sushi
micheleloh recommends this,
Woke up at 3am just to catch the first train for the tuna auctions. Our hotel was located near to the Toei Oedo Line, where we caught the first train at 5am.
Alighted at Tsukijishijo Station, which is just outside the Tsukiji market. The experience of the tuna auctions was a sight to behold.
After which, we went to Daiwa Sushi, where we queued for approximately half an hour. The queue was long as the shop was very small.
Ordered the Chef Recommended set and the sushi was so fresh and good. One of my favourite sushi was the uni (i.e. sea urchin). At my country, the uni sold have a weird taste due to the time taken for importing them over. However, when we tasted the uni sushi in Japan, the taste was heavenly. Hence, could not resist buying a whole boxful of uni for my own consumption.
