There's no question about it : China Room is beautiful. Stunning. Full of beautiful little nooks and private party rooms. A romantic entrance. Melancholy traditional music plays softly from undetectable speakers. The only problem I had was with the food.

The China Room serves edible, even nice food but, for a 12,400 Yen  dinner, I  expected fine dining. We liked the authentic fried rice, but found the prawns cooked with  tea were lacking in flavour at dinnertime, and the lunch set's noodles were quite plain as well, and they seemed to be more of a Japanese style perhaps.We were, however,  impressed by the beautiful, handmade dumplings in the shape of a goldfish.

Each of the meals were lovingly presented in bamboo baskets and glass dishes, but if one were particularly keen to dine at China Room, I'd recommend the tea time sets in the afternoons, or weekend lunchtime dim sum sets, which goes for about 3,800 Yen. For such a price, it's good value and a nice opportunity to relax in a place of beauty.
