Small-scale and central enough to Shibuya without being in the middle of the party scene, the Creston has a laid-back, classy ambience. It's tucked down an alley that won't get much pedestrian traffic but gives easy access to Shibuya nightlife, restaurants and the rest of the neighbourhood action.
From the outside, the Creston might look like any other business hotel, but rumour has it that many a rock star has crashed here after the show at nearby NHK Broadcasting Center. Pad quietly down the carpeted halls past the round tables tastefully adorned with dried flower arrangements, and find comfortable rooms furnished with double beds (even in the singles) covered in dupioni silk bedspreads. Bathtubs are also generously sized for Tokyo standards. Flat-screen TVs come in every room, and the internet is accessible via wireless LAN. On the 1st floor there's also a good Japanese restaurant with the same refined feel as the rest of this dignified spot. Far enough removed from the noise around Shibuya crossing, but near enough to join the colourful parade in minutes, the Creston has a cool, low-key ambience that grown-up rock stars will be glad to come home to.
