    Lonely Planet review

More like a modern hotel than a traditional ryokan, the family-run Annex Katsutarō has spotless, thoughtfully arranged tatami rooms with attached bathrooms. Though a bit of a walk from the sights in Ueno, it’s ideal for exploring the old Yanaka district. Breakfast and bicycles are available for a small fee.

Our independent authors have visited Annex Katsutaro Ryokan and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Ueno & Around.

    Description provided by property

A 2-minute walk from Sendagi Subway Station, Japanese-style hotel Annex Katsutaro Ryokan features rooms with traditional tatami (woven-straw) flooring and free Wi-Fi internet. The ryokan offers bicycle rental.

The air-conditioned rooms at Ryokan Annex Katsutaro feature Japanese futon bedding, and each has a TV and fridge. The attached bathroom includes a bathtub.

Katsutaro Annex is a 3-minute walk from Tenno-ji Temple and a 10-minute walk from Ueno Zoo and Ueno Park. It is an 8-minute walk to JR Nippori Station, which offers direct access to Akihabara and Tokyo Station.

The ryokan provides free-use internet terminals and coin-operated laundry machines.

Guests can order a Continental breakfast or a hot Western-style breakfast, for a fee.
