The Meiji-era Komparu-yu is a refreshing slice of Shitamachi (low city) in the midst of posh Ginza. This is a simple bathhouse without a sauna or stand-up showers. Tile art includes old-school koi motifs. The matriarch here keeps a watchful eye over everyone from her perch on the old wooden bandai (counter).
