Looks like we will have 10 days in Japan end of November, we have been previously but never to the Northern areas. We don't ski but are happy to stay in that area for a few days. Thinking of Sapporo not sure as the distance will take a day out of our stay. Any suggestions. Have previously come across from Korea on the ferry and travelled up to Tokyo.
We are senior travellers reasonably adventurous on our way to Europe..

Hi guys!

I'd like to share my 2-week low budget trip itinerary to Japan next October. I'm avoiding buying JR Pass. So, that way I can spend 2 weeks there paying the same value of JR Pass 1 week.

Day 1 - Osaka (enjoying the jet lag)
Day 2 - Osaka
Day 3 - Osaka (day trip to Nara, individual ticket)
Day 4 - Kyoto (individual ticket)
Day 5 - Kyoto
Day 6 - Kyoto
Day 7 - Takayama (citytour and Gero Onsen for public hot spring) (Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass - 5 days USD155)
Day 8 - Takayama (day trip…

Hi, travellers!

Anybody has an experience about exchanging dollars in Osaka?
My question is: is it better exchange at the airport or in the city? Any suggestion?
Usually, airports never are good idea. But, also, in some cities, it doesn't matter.

Ah! Another question: is it true credit cards are not helpful in Japan?

Tks, people!

My husband and I are visiting Japan in mid October (very excited!). He cannot eat egg white. It's not the type of allergy that will kill him, just something that would result in a very upset stomach for a few days - not the kind of thing you want while travelling. It wouldn't be a problem if he ate, for example, one slice of cake where the cake had an egg or two in the mix so we don't want to flag up an egg allergy but we'd like to avoid dishes that use a lot of egg which may be hidden (we'd…

I am looking at the internet for timetables and prices of highway bus in Shikoku and Kyoksu, but It is very difficult to find a good website. Is there a website like for the railway where I can find all the information about highway busses?
all suggestions are welcome

Hello!

My husband and I will be traveling from San Francisco, CA to Manila, Philippines with a 18 hour layover at Haneda airport. We land at 2:45 in the afternoon on a Tuesday and fly out at 9 in the morning the next day.

This will be our first time in Japan, though we do plan on coming back, so we're looking for a nice "introduction" to Japan. We definitely want to see Shibuya Crossing, a Temple, and some sort of city skyline view. We love Japanese food and love to try new things as well.

Traveling to Japan mid-end Nov for two weeks. Thinking of Tokyo, Kanazawa and possibly Osaka and/or ryokan. Any suggestions on where would be best to go considering the weather and kids (aged 1 and 6 years). Interested in Osaka but feel it may be too similar to Tokyo. Is Kanazawa a good idea (have already been to Kyoto so looking to go elsewhere). Also are ryokans generally too adult for kids?

These are the ones we're considering:

Ochiairou Murakami, Izu Peninsula

A terrible question: if we could spend only 2-3 days along the Shikoku Henro, what stretch should we cover?

I'd like not to hike along roads. I'd like natural beauty, varied scenery interesting temples and ryokans/minshukus.

It would also be nice if it didn't take too long to get there from Takamatsu, where we'll probably be for the trienniale art festival.

Thank you,

Colin

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone could recommend some good Tempura or Unagi places in Shibuya or Ginza? Also would it be necessary to book before we arrive in Tokyo?

Budget conscious but we plan on going out for one memorable meal

Thanks!
