There are two bus centres in Yasumiya, one for JR buses and one for other services. Both are a couple of minutes on foot from the pier.

From April to November, JR buses run to Aomori (¥3000, three hours). There are three buses daily between April and early November to Morioka (¥2420, 2¼ hours). From late April to September there is one bus at 8.45am to Hachimantai Chōjō, the main point of access for the Hachimantai region (¥2300, 2¼ hours).

The nearest train station is at Towada-Minami on the JR Hanawa line, with connections to Morioka (kaisoku ¥2080, two hours). Up to four connecting buses run daily 8am to 4.40pm (¥330, one hour).
