Sado-ga-shima hotels and hostels
Nanaura Sō
There are several rooms with balconies overlooking the ocean and the owners speak some English. From Aikawa, take the Nanaura-kaigan line to the Nagatemisaki-iriguchi stop or, better still, call ahead for a pick-up.
Sotokaifu Youth Hostel
Tucked away in a tiny fishing hamlet - this may be just the ticket for solitude-seekers.
Minshukū Sakaya
Enjoy pared-down yet cosy rooms. The place is conveniently located a few minutes' walk east of the Ogi ferry terminal.
Sado Seaside Hotel
At Sumiyoshi Onsen, about 2km from Ryōtsu. It's cheery enough with free internet, an onsen bath and an obliging free shuttle service to and from the port. Try for a room with an ocean view.
Urashima
With its modern space-capsule design, Urashima overlooks the beach.
Green Village Youth Hostel
Just south of Ryōtsu, is this place, among the island's top accommodations because of great food, internet access, friendly hosts, and spectacular scenery.
Sado Belle Mer Youth Hostel
In the tourist area of Senkaku-wan. From Aikawa, take the Kaifu line to the Minami-Himezu stop; from there it's a five-minute walk in the direction of the shore.
Tōkaen
Tōkaen is a pleasant minshuku. The owners can help you plan all sorts of outdoor activities - hiking, fishing and so on - and they also cook up good vegetarian food.
