Yatai Food Stalls information
The Fukuoka way to eat is at yatai (屋台), mobile hawker-style food carts with simple counters and seats; Fukuoka claims about 150 yatai , more than in the rest of Japan combined! Let the aromas and chatty conversation lead you to the best cooking and the best companions. For a more local experience, try these yatai around Tenjin or Nagahama. Get there early as most seats are soon taken. (Note that if you talk too much without ordering enough you'll be asked to move on.)
