In Ryokuchi-kōen, this fine open-air museum features a collection of traditional Japanese country houses, transported here and painstakingly reconstructed within a leafy park. Most striking is the giant gasshō-zukuri (steeply slanting thatch-roofed) farmhouse from Gifu-ken, and a thatched-wall farmhouse from Nagano, which looks to be wearing a shaggy coat. The whole place comes alive with fiery red maple leaves during November.

From the west exit of Ryokuchi-kōen Station, go straight out the doors (past the McDonald's), follow this road down to Hattori Ryokuchi park (服部緑地公園), then walk through the park to the museum.
