Lonely Planet review for Kani Dōraku Honten
This crab specialist does all kinds of imaginative things with the unfortunate crustaceans. If the main branch is full, there’s an annexe just down the road.

after a long trip...
kikoprincess recommends this,
After a long trip to Osaka from Australia, we landed in the evening hoping that there will be places we can still get dinner. After wandering around for about half an hour struggling to find our hotel we found out the japanese streets are smaller and more narrow than the maps imply. When we checked in, I asked whether there will be anywhere to eat dinner at about 9pm at night. The receptionist told us that we could have instant noodles from the vending machine, only Y 100. We were shocked.
We wanted to try our luck anyway, so happens that we were living a stone's throw away from Dōtombori Arcade. It is one of the largest shopping streets we had ever seen (obviously, it was my first trip to Japan). And to our good fortune, some shops were still open. After a little stroll around, we ventured into a udon/sushi shop.
We ordered our meal only to realise that we were keeping the shop open. But still the staff were very friendly and helped us out and even showed us pictures. It was a great meal, maybe because we were starving but the atmosphere was also quite special. It was as if we were back in the old days in a quite shop in the country side of Japan. It was also a cheap meal, being about Y500 for two people. a bowl of noodles and a plate of sashimi to share.Good for: food, Budget Travellers, service
