Lonely Planet review
The Umeda OS Hotel is a fairly typical business hotel located on the doorstep of Osaka's Eki-Mae buildings, a buzzing hive of businesses, shops and restaurants. There is not much to distinguish the hotel except for its convenient location - few business hotels are this close to the centre of things.
If you've travelled around Japan on a budget, you're probably familiar with the business hotel. The Umeda OS Hotel is a good example of this accommodation genre. It has reasonable prices, the rooms are small but adequate, and the staff are efficient but not overly friendly. As with many other business hotels in Japan, some of the common areas have a bit of cigarette smoke aroma. On the plus side, the OS commands a great location on Midōsuji, which is the major thoroughfare in Osaka. It's a short walk to JR Osaka Station, Hankyū Umeda Station and several others, as well as the subway line. It's also very near the Kita shopping district and the busy Osaka Eki-Mae buildings.
