Somewhere between business hotels and international-class hotels, the Mitsui Garden chain of hotels are a great choice for people who have graduated from guesthouses but don't want to bust the budget on luxury hotels. The Shijō branch is very close to the main downtown shopping and financial districts.
Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijō is an easy hotel to like. Prices are incredibly reasonable for what you get: clean, well-appointed rooms, efficient staff and a brilliant central location. In addition to the bath-tubs in each room, the hotel boasts a fine daiyokujō (communal bath). The hotel offers in-room massages, but if you're on a tight budget, you can just plop down in one of the hotel's free massage chairs. There are two nonsmoking floors and computer users will appreciate the LAN cable internet access in all rooms. Frankly, we wish there were more hotels like the Mitsui on Shijō.

Location. Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo is located in Kyoto's Shijo Omiya neighborhood, close to Rokakkudo Temple, Nijo Castle, and Kyoto Imperial Palace. Nearby points of interest also include Kiyomizu Temple and Higashi Honganji Temple.
