Hello guys, I asked the same about China but I'd also like to know about Japan. Could you tell me how much is a basic ensuite (bathroom included) room in different parts of a country? (i.e. the type of room which is 15 dollars with aircon in Thailand, and 10 dollars fan only). Also are there any differences in how these rentals work compared to South East Asia? I.e. check out time, etc.
Thanks a lot

HI Guys,

I am planing the itinerary to Japan for the middle of october.
From Tokyo ( I arrive at 7.30 a.m.) I will go directly to Osaka and from there to Kii Tanabe.
I am not going to do the kumano Kodo trail. I just want to do some walks around the area, visit the temples,( kumano hongu taisha) and maybe we will do a boat trip along the Doroyko George.
We will do all by public transport.
I have some doubts.
1. What is best, to sleep in Hongu or in Yunomine.... ? which one is nicest and…

I'm looking for some help re a one month itinerary July 21st to 20th August.

Having been working in Tokyo for a few months I intend travelling as follows:-

-Kyoto- trips to Nara and Himeji (not sure whether to stop in Osaka for a few days - previous posts say it's not worth it)
-Hiroshima (day trip to Miyajima)
-Nagasaki
-Fukuoka to fly back to Tokyo Narita - pick up bags before flying…

This is all much easier than expected.

Took train at 7.15 to Sinano-Omachi from Matsumoto. Arrived 8.15am. Bought bus ticket to Ogizawa bus departing 9.05am. Took bags to shop next to train station and lady gave me baggage docket to attach to bag stating my name and what hotel to deliver bag to that afternoon in Toyama- cost 1300 yen. From Ogizawa you are basically guided through the various modes of travel by what seems an excessive number of staff.

Because I did the trip on the Monday there…

Hi all,

Travelling to Japan this summer and happen to be in Aomori for the Nebuta Matsuri festival on the 7th of august. As I am trying to find accommodation, way too late I know, I wonder what is reasonable in travel distance, wouldn't mind an hour by train. However would like to catch some of the festival evening celebrations.

Has anyone had experience with last minute accommodation on such short notice? Or some advice on how to arrange an overnight stay?

Help is much appreciated, kind…

We (2 adults +4 year old) are planning a 24 day trip in Japan.
we are looking for a slow vacation (to absorb the local vibe of places), enjoying culture, temples, gardens, architecture and nature. because we are traveling with a kid we don't want to move our hotel too much or take long transnational detours (for example - taking a 3 hour bus for a 2 day trip). we will be flying in and out of Tokyo for the airline tickets are affordable that way for us)

  1. I'm attaching our "tentative"…

Hi friends
Seasoned mid-budget traveler here. Leaving for a vacation in Japan Oct 8 and will be in-country a full 21 days. I am considering 4 days each Tokyo and Kyoto. The rest of the time I want to explore other parts of the country. I am interested in maybe three 4-day bases from which to explore out from and have them be semi-rural so I can experience a slower more traditional cultural experience. I have the Lonely Planet Guide and it is great but everything it describes sounds awesome…

Hello fellow travelers!

We are planning a 2 week honeymoon (15 days) landing in Toyko and keen to visit Kyoto and Osaka and If timing works out also Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Besides the city sights I woul love to hear your tips of more quiet and authentic places we could stay a night or 2 along the way to these cites. Open to Ryokans, places in the mountains or lakes or by the water. Places that have that romantic charm. We leave towards end of Sept. Many thanks! Justin

Hi

My partner and I will land in Toyko on Monday at 5:30. My question is, is it better to bring Sterling, Euro or US dollar to change into Yen?

Also is there a bullet train from Tokyo to Hiroshima?

Thanks
