Sorry to bug you - quick one... I leave for Japan to go snowboarding in Feb - a 2 week trip.
Just FYI my flights and accomm are sorted so I'm not looking for a package deal.
Really appreciate your help!
I'm in Kyoto for next 2 weeks and since the weather is terrible I thought about visiting few museums. There is very little about it. I searched TripAdvisor and it's mainly about shrines and temples and restaurants. I looked at the official site by Kyoto municipality but it's mainly in Japanese and if in English it's just few words, saying what's in the museum but without recommendations. Do you know any site where people share their comments of Kyoto museums? Or could you recommend 3-4…
I am planning a trip for a group through the Japan this September spending roughly 6 days in Kyoto and 5 days in Tokyo with a side trip to Minakami. Most of my itinerary is filled with cool stuff to do but I would love to get out with the group and do something very adventurous/adrenaline packed activities if possible.
Are there are good websites/links to anything we could do in these areas of Japan? Really after the most mind bending action packed adventures we can find?
If you ended up reading this topic, then I probably don't need to start by pointing out all the surprise and headache that one passes though in order to get a 3G / 4G connection for your foreigner's gadget in Japan - I guess it doesn't matter where, some market laws are irrefutable and when you have all that archaic regulation on mobile usage, things will always be like that, even in Japan, eh?
So, I've googled my @ss all around, but after kicking and screaming in denial, I guess there's no way…
Hi, First time Japan and my boyfriend and I want to cycle and canoe and or Kite Surf at Lake Biwa and Izu Peninsula this April. Anybody got recommendations on where best to base ourselves at either location to combine beautiful scenery with access to hiring sport gear etc. for non Japanese speakers?
My husband and I are independently travelling around the Kansai region of Japan for 2 weeks in early April (2015). Our itinerary is Osaka-Kyoto-KoyaSan-Nara-Kinosaki-Ise-Kyoto-Naoshima-Hiroshima-Miyajima-Kobe-Osaka. Yes we're going to be busy!
My question is, which rail pass(es) do we need to buy? Bearing in mind that we are not visiting Tokyo, do we need to bother buying the Japan Rail pass (£263 for 14 days) or can we by a regional pass? I am thinking of buying the Kinsetsu…
We are 2 friends who are going to Japan for the first time between 31 of March and 13 of April.
It was decided just now and we already have the flight tickets (fly in Osaka - Fly out Tokyo).
But we are having problems finding places to stay because it's Cherry Blossom season and we don't quite know what's the best.
So far we came with this:
I had serious doubts about a winter trip to Biei area in Hokkaido as a solo women traveler due to the road conditions and limited public transportation options. I am so glad that I still decided to go and wanted to share my blog post about this recent trip here as I found out not much discussion took place here in relation to solo travel to Hokkaido, Japan in winter.
Would like to coincide a trip to Japan with the clearances / sales of the shops.
Something similar to the Boxing Day sales in the UK / Australia or mid year clearances?
Do Japanese retailer run such clearances? If so do they different retailers have sales at the same time? If yes when are these held?
