Lonely Planet review
The owner of this unpretentious, welcoming inn has ability in English, French, Italian and Spanish. It's a great place to have your first ryokan experience as most staff are able to communicate well, especially over the wonderful kaiseki dinner, served in the dining room. Corner upstairs rooms have lovely views. You can also stop by for lunch – try the Kiso Valley trout (teishoku ¥1350).
Our independent authors have visited Fujioto and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Tsumago & Magome.
