We are going to spend a little more than 2 weeks in Japan for our honeymoon in March 2015. We plan to visit Tokyo for 3 days and at least 3 days in Kyoto and buy a rail ticket. We love eating delicious food in hole-in-wall hidden places art, sightseeing and doing nature-related activities. We looked into walking part of the Nakasendo trail also. I am looking for suggestions for great places to stay (ryokans, etc..) for a moderate budget, eating establishments and cities/towns to visit other than…
I'm planning a trip with a friend to rent a car sometime around New Years and drive around Japan for about 30 days, and was looking for some advice for the best roads to take for the most scenic views along the general route I'll be going, and also advice on which cities I'm better off parking far from the city and taking a train in (and where to park!). Won't really be going too far north of Niigata (I'll be in Japan for all of December too, so the cities that I can't reach by car…

I'm about to travel Japan for the first time. End of March/beginning of April I will fly from Bangkok to Fukuoka or otherwise to Tokyo or Osaka. I've never been in Asia yet, and Japan has always been number one on my to visit list.
Plan is to see the blossom, skip the Golden Week by getting to South Korea by then and be back in Japan to experience the 3 festivals in May.
I will buy a Willer bus pass so travel mainly that way, and maybe by train or bus or hitch hike to places Willer…
My Dutch friend wants me to buy her a traditional Japanese seal for a holiday present but I'm not sure what she means. Anyone got any idea and where I can buy one in Tokyo?
I will arrive from the U.S. at Narita Airport 4:30pm. I was thinking of overnighting in Narita town instead of Tokyo. Sounds more relaxing than going into Tokyo and I've heard Narita is a pleasant little town. I have been to Japan and have already seen many of the must-sees. This time I would like to start in Hiroshima and work my way back to Tokyo. After my overnight in Narita would it be too optimistic to get from Narita to Hiroshima the same day--without arriving too late?
I'm returning to Japan for my 5th time in early March and thought I'd try to visit a new place for at least 2 nights that's within an inexpensive train ride of Tokyo (under $50). I was thinking of Hakone, since I've never been, and combining it with Kamakura because I love that town so much. Using Hyperdia, it looks like Hakone is both nearby and reasonable, and that it's also quick and inexpensive to travel between Kamakura and Hakone.
Having said that, I'd love your advice. I have…
Hi all, long time lurker first time poster.
My boyfriend and I (22/23yo) are on our first international trip together and will be spending 21 days in Japan. 7 nights in Tokyo, 2 nights in Mt Fuji, 4 nights Kyoto and 7 nights in Osaka. Some have said that 7 nights in Tokyo and Osaka may be a bit long of a stay and it isnt necessary to have such a long stay. But I am the type of traveller who enjoys taking in the culture and atmosphere without having to rush around and trying to jam pack as many…
Can someone please tell me the detailed direction of going to Sumida (train station: Yashiro) from Haneda airport?
I'd like to know if there is one train I can take directly from the airport or I need to transfer at somewhere.
Hey, my wife and I(Late 20s) have a 5 day stay coming up in Kansai in early December. Will be my third time in Japan but her first time. We are thinking of mainly staying in Kyoto with a few short trips to Nara and Kurama. Lots of temples, palaces, some hiking in the hopefully not frigid mountains and a soak in an onsen.
To juxtapose to that, we are thinking of heading out somewhere for some modernity and night life. Something with a lot of young people.
I think I have been to Namba,…
