A sane, reasonably priced choice a few minutes east of Nagoya station. Staff are kindly, efficient and English-speaking, the Café Plaza cafe and bar has a retro-mod midcentury charm, and there's a fitness club with a 25m (80ft) swimming pool.
Room decor doesn't set any style standards, but the Castle Plaza is comfy and well cared for, and you can get free Internet access in your room (with your own computer). Twin rooms have extra seating. There are more than 10 restaurants on site including Indian, Chinese, Thai and Nagoya's own signature dish, kōchin chicken. Don't be surprised to see a wedding reception on weekends or conventioneers on weekdays. Plus, it's hard to beat the location, steps from a busy Unimall underground shopping arcade and a few more steps to Nagoya Station.
