Gohonjin Fujiya information
Until recently, this imposing 1923 building was Nagano's most venerable Hotel Fujiya, and had been since 1648. It's since transformed itself into the city's most elegant Western restaurant and function centre. The spectacular dining room is called Wisteria and mixes Japanese and Art Deco motifs. Everchanging chef's menus (lunch ¥2400, dinner ¥5000) are usually a good bet. For dessert, the Shinshū ringo-pai (apple pie) is a little slice of heaven.
