‘Misdeeds’ is the name of this nonprofit initiative by and for incarcerated workers, but their hand-silkscreened fashion, organic body-care products and pop-art bowling bags made from recycled vinyl museum banners are not at all badly made – they’re actually quite brilliant. Aprons with the recipe for spritz, T-shirts showing the measurements of acqua alta and art journals made from Venice art-show ads are souvenirs with a difference: all proceeds support training and transitions from jail on Giudecca to new lives and productive careers in Venice.
