    Cartè

Gondola wakes and lagoon ripples mysteriously appear on hand-bound portfolios and paper necklaces, thanks to the steady hands and restless imagination of marble-paper maestra Rosanna Corrò. After years restoring ancient Venetian manuscripts and books, Rosanna decided to work on making something entirely original, and here you have it: bookbound purses in woodgrain designs, swirling yellow Op art earrings, and photo albums in opulent peacock-eye patterns to showcase your best Venice photos.

    Il Pavone de Paolo Pelosin

Consider Paolo’s hand-bound marbled-paper journals and photo albums a challenge: now it’s up to you to come up with Venice memories worthy of such inspired workmanship. Restaurant review books come in scrumptious violet and gold Art Deco patterns, lagoon-swirled blue sketchbooks inspire sudden seascapes, and paper-wrapped pen sets seem to catch fire with flickers of orange and red.

    Il Gufo Artigiano

Hot copper and extremely careful handling is the secret to the embossed leather designs gracing journals, handbags, and wallets in this artisan’s atelier. Ancient ironwork patterns in Venetian windows and balconies inspire the swirling designs, with vibrantly coloured leather adding an unexpected modern twist: orange satchels, saffron-yellow photo albums and verdant day planners.

    Materialmente

No Venetian palace would be complete without opulent mirrors and lavish tapestries, and Maddelena Venier and her brother Alessandro Salvadori have cleverly combined these luxe effects in modern mirrors hand-silkscreened with baroque patterns. The prolific siblings also create whimsical lamps that look like birdcages and signet rings ideal for sealing love letters in wax.

    Artistica Ferro

Iron becomes red-hot decor at this atelier, where handcrafted metalwork showpieces include fireplace sets, cast-iron sugar bowls that resonate like a bell when struck with a tiny spoon, and a full-scale fero de prova, the classic iron hood-ornament for a gondola, with six teeth to represent the six sestieri (neighbourhoods) of Venice.

    Cartavenezia

Paper is anything but two-dimensional here: instead of being marbled, as has been the custom in Venice for 150 years, CartaVenezia embosses and sculpts handmade cotton paper into seamless raw-edged bowls and lampshades, hand-bound sketchbooks and paper versions of marble friezes that would seem equally at home in a Greek temple or modern loft.
