    Lonely Planet review

Gourmet getaways are made in the shade of the vineyards at Venissa, which offers some of the lagoon’s finest, freshest dining as well as six Scandinavian-chic rooms under the farmhouse rafters. Breakfast – if that's what you can call the lavish gourmet affair – is extra, either prix fixe (€15) or à la carte. Pre-book for cookery classes with world-class chefs, crab fishing with Burano fishermen or photography and rowing outings.

In 2016, Venissa plan to add 13 more rooms in a handful of fishermen's cottages on Burano.

Our independent authors have visited Venissa and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Murano, Burano & the Northern Islands.

    Description provided by property

Located on Mazzorbo Island in the northern Venetian Lagoon, renovated Venissa is surrounded by its orchard and vineyards. It offers spacious rooms with exposed-beam ceilings and parquet floors, and free Wi-Fi throughout.

Fitted with modern furnishings, air-conditioned rooms at Venissa bed and breakfast come with a flat-screen TV and a desk. The private bathroom includes a hairdryer and free toiletries.

Homemade cakes, yoghurt and hot drinks, together with cold cuts and cheese all feature for the sweet and savory breakfast. Each morning you can enjoy it in the dining room. The Michelin-starred Venissa restaurant is also available.

Guests can purchase own-produced white wine on site. A Vaporetto water bus stop, 100 metres from the property, will bring you to Venice in 40 minutes.
