Hi there. My mom and I are planning an 8-10 day (maybe more) vacation to Italy for March.
Originally I thought 8-10 days in Rome, Florence & Venice and then adding 1-3 days for an additional place in another country.
I have spent many hours researching Austria, Croatia & Switzerland and feel at a bit of a standstill. So, I thought I would post here for help/suggestions.
What I have gathered (whether true or not) is that Austria is generally cheaper than Switzerland, but Vienna is a 6…
My boyfriend and I are taking my parents on a 25th wedding anniversary trip to Venice over New Years 2015 (We are flying out from the US on Dec 26th and will be flying back on Jan 3rd). We plan to stay in Venice the whole time but would like to take some day trips (2 or 3 if we absolutely can).
Any ideas on where to go?
What can I expect the weather to be like in Sorrento for the last week of March? And same question for Florence. I realise it's somewhat unpredictable this time of year, but I'd appreciate some insight.

I will have three weeks to travel in Il Mezzogiorno [ the south] starting in Palermo. Is travel to the islands Aeolian and Egadi an ok thing ora forget about it thing?
Also any other helpful hints favorite places to eat, sleep etc will be appreciated
I m planning a solo trip to Sardinia in April 2015 for 2 weeks.
Can anyone suggest places to go/things to do etc.? I would like to do some sort of tour too - either walking, kayaking or horse riding...something along those lines, so if anyone can suggest anywhere to do this that would be very helpful.
Hi - just a quick question.
Advice is there isn't any luggage storage at the Siena railway station, but there is at the Siena bus station. Does anyone know the size of it? Are we able to store our medium-sized wheelie bags there, while we look around the city for the day (and then we travel by bus to San Gimignano late in the afternoon)?
Any advice appreciated.
Sorry this is a VERY general post but I have always wanted to go to Italy and would like to take my teenage daughter. Has anyone done likewise and if so did you have any issues with being a lone female? I would hope to do a basic language course before travelling as it makes me feel less vulnerable if I can at least speak a small amount of the language!
Obviously I will have to do some research on where we want to go but really want to see the historic sites of which there are plenty.
If all goes according to plan, my husband will be working in Citta di Castello for a week and I will be free to do largely as I like. Any recommendations for this area? Perugia, obviously, is very close and I have heard wonderful things about Assisi. We are considering tacking on 3 days in Rome, and I thought I might go to Florence on my own for a couple of days. This will be our first trip to Italy and it's not a place we are likely to return to soon, so I feel torn between wanting to soak up…
Hello, me and my friends are going to Rome on December, 31st.
We want to know whether there is any activity for new year or something like countdown maybe(?), which can help us enjoy the last day of 2014 and the first day of 2015. Will it be lively in Rome around new year? It's our first time to go to Italy so we want to know more before then.
Thank you in advance :)
I am having trouble finding train times from Varallo Sesia to Torino or Milan. Does anyone know any info on the trains from that city? I looked on TrenItalia and Italiarail. Thank you.
