This is one of Italy's oldest hostels (it's been going strong since the 1950s). Staff members are extremely friendly, dorms max out at six beds and bike hire can be arranged for €10 per day. Breakfast costs €2. Florence is easily accessed by SITA bus (€3.30, one hour).

Description
The Chianti youth hostel is in Tavernelle Val di Pesa - about 23 km south of Florence in the heart of the Chianti region, where the most famous of Italian wine is made.
The SITA buses run very frequently on weekdays ( less frequently on saturdays and Sundays ) from the SITA terminal beside the central train station in Florence reaching the Hostel in Tavarnelle in less than an hour.
We offer you the opportunity of a holiday in one of the most beautiful and famous regions of Italy with the comforts of an hotel at hostel prices.
A heaven of tranquillity where you can discover flavours and colours of Tuscany in a friendly and peaceful atmosphere.
Here you will find beautyful scenery, excellent Wines and cuisine, but also delightful
medieval villages and world famous art cities such as Florence which can be reached in 25 minutes by car and siena in 35 minutes. Six kilometres from the hostel there is a sports center with swimming pool and tennis courts; right beside the hostel there is a park with a rink for roller-skating and a children's playground. As well, in the neighbourhood there are beautiful treks to do and it is also possible to rent bycicles and horses.
Please note, if you are not a Member of Hostelling International there is an extra charge of 3 per person per night. Once you have stayed 6 nights at a HI Hostel you become a HI member, and no extra charges apply for future stays.
