  3. Verona, Piza, and let’s throw in Pompeii too!

Blog: See Simi Travel Blog - 9 May 2011

After a long hiatus, I return to my travel blog with dreams of Italy. I need to go back to Europe. This time of year always makes me think of Europe since it was around this time, 10 years ago, that I first went "backpacking" from England to Greece visiting 9 countries in between. But of all those countries, I can't stop thinking about Italy. Learn why!

    Blog: WildJunket - 11 April 2011

On a recent trip to Tuscany, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself in a childhood fantasy land. With antique aircraft, military coaches and thousands of Vespas on display, the Piaggeo Museum was quite an eye-opener for the inner child in me.

  7. Culinary Journey: gelato in Pisa

    Blog: velvet escape's blog - 21 March 2011

What: Gelato (ice-cream) Where: Gelateria De’ Coltelli, Lungarno Pacinotti 23, Pisa, Italy Notes: Most visitors stop in Pisa for a brief visit to its world-famous Leaning Tower and the adjacent Duomo. That’s a pity because Pisa is a fascinating city with many historical and culinary gems. The highlight of my recent trip to Pisa was [...]

  8. Take My Luggage; Please!

Blog: Ron in Rome - 5 December 2010

For many travelers, storing your luggage on a brief stay in a city – traveling by train or plane – can be a problem. Most of the larger cities and airports do have a “LEFT LUGGAGE” service (deposito bagagli). The fees are very reasonable  and I’ve used this service at multiple train stations. With the [...]

  10. Pisa and Funny Poses

Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 13 July 2010

June 11, 2010 - For about 23 euros, we bought ourselves round trip tickets to Pisa from Florence. There was no reservation and it was lucky that we got seats for the 1.5 hour ride. Once we got to Pisa Centrale station, we decided to walk to Fields of Miracle rather than take the bus. It was a bit confusing at first but it really was an easy walk. Once we got there, it didn't take very long til we started taking pictures! What kind of Pisa photo would be complete without tourists (read: us) making funny poses against the Leaning Tower? :P

  11. The Leaning Tower Of Pisa: Stairmaster Prototype

    Blog: AlpacaSuitcase - 21 May 2010

One of things that we were unprepared for when visiting Pisa’s Leaning Tower, was the sensation of climbing spiral stairs in a tower that leans a few degrees to one side. The best way to describe it is to compare it to a Stairmaster machine, and I’m wondering if the Stairmaster engineers climbed the Torre Pendente prior to the first launch of their wildly successful exercise machine in order to make sure that they got it right.

  20. Italy (Day 4) – Florence & Pisa

    Blog: Andy's Rotten Ideas - 3 October 2009

Our journey to Florence begins right after breakfast at Prato. It’s just another day to visit the churches, squares and some other attractions. On reaching Florence and the bus parked at the parking lot, my wife and I took a short walk to Basilica of Santa Croce. What so interesting in Basilica of Santa Croce? According to the tour guide, it’s the burial place of Michelangelo and Galileo; and also the largest Franciscan church in the world.

  22. Pisa, Italy

Blog: Patrick and Katrina do the Globe - 21 July 2009

Ever since we first booked our flight to Italy, we had been dreaming about the food. On our trip to Rome in 2007, we had set records in terms of how much delicious pasta we ate in a day, and we planned to continue that tradition this trip. Unfortunately our first Italian meal was the breakfast included with our stay at Pisa's Hotel Milano. The prepackaged croissants were inedible and the other "goodies" on offer might have well as been styrofoam.

  24. Molto Bene (Part Uno)

Blog: Bec and John in the UK - 15 November 2008

It occurred to us early this year that despite having lived in Europe for ages, we hadn't been to Italy since 2003, when we whipped through as part of a breakneck European tour. We loved Italy then, and wanted to make sure they hadn't broken it since. When Stu confirmed that he'd be visiting again for another Euro-summer (you may remember him from such blogs as Glastonbury last year), with his new lady-friend Mandy, it was a perfect opportunity.
