Car Rental in Sicily - can't find a decent company!

We shall be in Sicily for 8 days at the beginning of May, and want to rent a car. Going through the usual brokers keeps offering me options for cars from companies which got dreadful reviews - GoldCar, Holiday Autos, SmileRent, etc. And they're all expensive, and will also charge us that full-fuel thing.
What would you experienced Sicily travellers recommend we do? Would it be in your opinion worthwhile to just rent from one of the international biggies and live with the big price tag? I don't…

Biking and accommodations Verona, Bolzano, and beyond

We will be flying into Venice and traveling up to Verona for our first night. Then on to Bolzano, where we are picking up bikes and beginning a bike trip down the via Claudia augusta to the river PO, and onward. Looking for inexpensive accommodations for the first nite in Verona, and the next night in Bolzano. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We are considering going over to riva del Garda and taking a boat down the lake, Any opinions on that?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Tuscany week- with baby, without car.

Hello there!

We will be in Tuscany for one week or so- March 29-April 4 (leave for Rome), and are travelling with our 18month old boy. We will NOT be driving. We like to linger, roam neighborhoods, see some museums, churches, enjoy the architecture as we stroll around, people watch, eat.

We are looking at 3nights/3.5 days in florence, and will have the same amount left to play with for something else in Tuscany. But it's the plan outside of Florence that I'm muddled about. A few thoughts:

Caravaggio ceiling at Villa Aurora in Rome

Hi. I'll be in Rome mid June and I'm planning on spending a lot of my 10 days there enjoying the Caravaggios. His only ceiling fresco is in the Villa Aurora. I've read on line that its American princess has opened the house to the public.Last time I was in Rome in 2005 it was closed to public. In 2010 tours were given fri and sat mornings by the former Texan realtor herself for 20€, reservation required. Although an e-mail address is referred to on line I can't find it! I've spent hours…
