I'm going to a wedding in Sorrento in May and want to make a holiday out of the journey at the same time.
I've booked my flights and arrive in the afternoon of the 13th May, I want to take in as much of Amalfi coast as possible whilst I am there and would prefer some of the smaller towns as opposed to the bigger more touristy towns. I have done a bit of research and come up with the below. Does anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to spend the night in Nocelle if I am going to do the…
I want to visit the big cemetery in Milan on Friday. A friend of mine was in Milano 2 weeks ago and told me, the cimitero monumentale is closed due to building activities. He said the main entrance is closed and there is no other way in, just a sign "authorized persons only". I tried to verify that and found information about contruction works for the Metro in front of the cemetery. I think my friend just didn't find the entrance...
Can anybody tell me if the cimitero monumentale is open as…
In May (around ascension day), I will visit Palermo with three friends. We will stay in the city for a few days, and might want to rent a car for one day to do a trip outside of the city.
Does anybody have any tips? We like nature, good food and archaeology sites. To make the most of our single day, perhaps there is something we can do with an English-speaking guide, but that's not required.
Hi, we are coming to Italy at the end of March for a week. Have pretty much decided that Rome will be our main destination, (unless you have a better suggestion)hoping the weather there will be a tad warmer than perhaps Umbria or Tuscany. We are meeting friends and so are hoping to find a holiday home within easy striking distance of Rome but in a quieter, pretty old town/village for some rest days. Wonder if anyone can recommend anywhere which might fit the bill, happy to ride about an hour…
It's been a long time since I graced these wonderful boards. Most of my exploits around the world were fashioned using threads from all the wonderful users.
A few years back, I hung up my rather worn travelling boots to start a family. It's my 40th birthday in a few weeks and I've just been told a relative is looking after the children and we (my fiancee and I) have 4 days in Rome!
You can imagine my excitement (and sadness and leaving them), but you can't remove the traveller…
Hi - just wanted to share a little gem we found in Sardinia - Tiziano renovated a beautiful house in south sardinia and has 5 beautiful guest rooms in his Casa Namaste - it is the most beautiful and peaceful place, check it out on www.casanamaste.it ; the place is easy to reach, half an hour from Cagliari airport by car, and is close to so many beautiful spots; little town Pula is 5 minutes away and has a nice atmosphere and some good (and non-expensive) food… we found this place and loved it…
Just looking for some advice really. We are travelling to Italy later this year and will be visiting Verona (2 days) Venice (5 days) Florence (5 days) and Rome (5 days).
We have a few places in mind that we would like to visit but just wanted to get some ideas on places to visit and eat etc. Also if you have any rough idea on cost for eating out/ activities etc around those places that would be greatly appreciated!
I visited Italy's stunning Amalfi Coast in September of last year and I fell in love with the place. The scenery is dramatic, and breathtakingly beautiful, the food is fabulous and the Italian culture is so rich and welcoming.
Here is my post from the trip along with the photographs, hopefully it'll inspire other travellers!
Thanks for reading!
Hello, again, thanks for all the help on the car hire etc.
A bit more advice needed please. We are booked into a hotel in Lovere, Lago d'Iseo, for 3 nights over Easter being the nights of Good Friday checking out on Easter Monday. However, we fly into Milan Malpensa arriving at 6,30pm the previous night Thursday, then shall collect our car there, so we are probably looking at leaving the airport with our car at the earliest about 7,30pm: it will probably be dark early April and we are looking…
