I'm going to be in Italy for just under and week and want to catch a stage or two of the Giro. I'm not sure of the best way to travel around Italy through the mountains and into remote areas. I'm looking to catch stage 9 from Montenero di Bisaccia to Blockhaus. Do you recommend renting a car? There are trains and buses all over the place, but I am tight for time and don't want to have to spend a ton of unnecessary time traveling around. How would you get from Rome to the top of…
I understand that like any large city you need to always be aware of your surroundings. I also know that there are some areas you best not tread. What areas of Rome that we need to avoid, we are considering a VRBO? Some we were looking at were within a short walk to Termini. I heard that area could be a little sketchy. Thanks
10 Days in Italy
Is there a option beside train that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? worried about safety on trains
Arrive in Naples around 9pm get train to Sorrento, Arrive in Sorrento around 10-12pm
Trains from Naples to Sorrento leave from the main station (Stazione Napoli Centrale on Piazza Garibaldi) about every half-hour between 06:00 and 23:00 every day, and the journey can take between 45 minutes and 1.25 hours (again, depending on the train). If you want the quicker trip, trains…
I need your advice on the following matter.
I will be in Italy from 5 to 11th of may.
What is the cheapest and best website to buy train tickets from Rome to Venice And Venice to Bologna? Any suggestions cause the prices really vary from one site to another.
And what about the Roma Pass for 72 hrs is it money saving considering it includes 2 museums/ archaeological sites in addition to the transportation?
Thank You :)
I booked a week's stay at an agriturismo near Etna beginning of May with my little child. I fly into Catania and rent a car for the week. I don't want to spend too much time in the car with my son. One week is a short period, but I would like to do a mix of culture, beach and nature. I am thinking of doing a short hike on Mt. Etna. Being this close I shouldn't miss the opportunity I guess. Would you think it would be doable to go to the Aolean islands on a day trip? Or should I…
My sister and I are planning on hiking on the Amalfi Coast in mid-May. Here is our itinerary:
Day 1: Arriving in Napoli International Aiport in the afternoon and transferring to Amalfi.
Day 2: Hiking Amalfi to Praiano
Day 3: Hiking Praiano to Positano
Day 4: Hiking Positano to Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi
Day 5: Hiking Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi to Sorrento
Day 6: Departing early from Sorrento and back to the airport.
Does this look like the best hike to do or are we missing out and should we…
I'm spending two weeks in Sicily in mid-June and plan to take the first week to learn Italian (even if it's just a little bit!). I fly into Catania (will see Etna from the plane, I hope!) and am trying to decide where to study and base myself for the first week. In the second week I plan to travel around the Aeolian Islands before flying out of Palermo.
Given I'll be travelling solo and on public transport, does anyone have any thoughts on where's a good place to study and live…
I am wondering if anyone knows if the tourist office in Colle di val d'Elsa still organizes crystal tours? What are the details? Alternately, can you recommend any where else in town that lets tourists check out local factories? We'll be there sometime the week of 1 May - 5 May.
Hi all! I am flying out of Rome at 6:15am on this coming Wednesday. Flying on TAP through Lisbon to Boston. How early do I need to get to the airport that morning? I am checking a bag. Thanks!!!
Any thoughts on whether Sardinia, Amalfi coast or Sicily would be better? What a dilemma! I've travelled a lot but this time it is just two weeks for a good friend's birthday. In Italy, I've only been to Rome before. I'm looking for tips on which destination might be best. We're going around the beginning of September. I prefer to be in smaller places, not in the mega tourist hubs.
I started thinking about Amalfi but this looks pretty expensive and it seems like we'd have to be pretty…
