My husband and I are traveling into Milan for 3 weeks in July with our boys who are 8 and 10. We are very active and adventurous and would like to experience some hiking, local culture and sightseeing. We could hire a car, although we were thinking train would be a great way to get around and see the country. We are fortunate to have a fairly open budget at this time in our lives which was not the case when I visited Italy solo in college. We love the outdoors and nature, hiking, great food, and…
Hello! I'm travelling from India to Brussels, Bruges, Amsterdam and finally to the beautiful city of Italy. I'm volunteering for 6 weeks in Bologna and would like to know how can I see all the beautiful places in the country by solo traveling over the weekends.
We want to spend a week in the Liguria and Piedmont area. We will spend 2 nights in the Cinque Terre prior to this. Ideally it would be nice to find a base on the coast west of Genoa and Portofino for a good part of the week.
Does anyone have experience in those areas?
I would be travelling to Italy with my girlfriend for the first time and this is our first time doing a carry-on only trip. We will be on a 11 day trip in mid June 2017 and need some advice on our itinerary. I would like to know if what i have planned out is too much of a rush or a comfortable trip.
Day 1- Arrive to Rome at about 7 pm - Stay in Rome
Day 2 - Day trip to Vatican city
Day 3- half day in Rome and travel to Naples by train (reach by 6 or 7pm) - Stay in Naples
Day 5 - Day trip to…
My husband and I will be in Sicily in June and then travelling to Positano for a few nights. I am wondering which is the best overnight ferry to get? Either to Naples or Salerno? And then ferry, bus or train (or a mix) to get to Positano??
What are peoples thoughts?
I'm going to be in Italy for just under and week and want to catch a stage or two of the Giro. I'm not sure of the best way to travel around Italy through the mountains and into remote areas. I'm looking to catch stage 9 from Montenero di Bisaccia to Blockhaus. Do you recommend renting a car? There are trains and buses all over the place, but I am tight for time and don't want to have to spend a ton of unnecessary time traveling around. How would you get from Rome to the top of…
I understand that like any large city you need to always be aware of your surroundings. I also know that there are some areas you best not tread. What areas of Rome that we need to avoid, we are considering a VRBO? Some we were looking at were within a short walk to Termini. I heard that area could be a little sketchy. Thanks
10 Days in Italy
Is there a option beside train that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? worried about safety on trains
Arrive in Naples around 9pm get train to Sorrento, Arrive in Sorrento around 10-12pm
Trains from Naples to Sorrento leave from the main station (Stazione Napoli Centrale on Piazza Garibaldi) about every half-hour between 06:00 and 23:00 every day, and the journey can take between 45 minutes and 1.25 hours (again, depending on the train). If you want the quicker trip, trains…
I need your advice on the following matter.
I will be in Italy from 5 to 11th of may.
What is the cheapest and best website to buy train tickets from Rome to Venice And Venice to Bologna? Any suggestions cause the prices really vary from one site to another.
And what about the Roma Pass for 72 hrs is it money saving considering it includes 2 museums/ archaeological sites in addition to the transportation?
Thank You :)
I booked a week's stay at an agriturismo near Etna beginning of May with my little child. I fly into Catania and rent a car for the week. I don't want to spend too much time in the car with my son. One week is a short period, but I would like to do a mix of culture, beach and nature. I am thinking of doing a short hike on Mt. Etna. Being this close I shouldn't miss the opportunity I guess. Would you think it would be doable to go to the Aolean islands on a day trip? Or should I…
