Any thoughts on whether Sardinia, Amalfi coast or Sicily would be better? What a dilemma! I've travelled a lot but this time it is just two weeks for a good friend's birthday. In Italy, I've only been to Rome before. I'm looking for tips on which destination might be best. We're going around the beginning of September. I prefer to be in smaller places, not in the mega tourist hubs.
I started thinking about Amalfi but this looks pretty expensive and it seems like we'd have to be pretty…

Lucca

Hi everyone
My wife and I are planning a trip to Lucca for four weeks in October 2018, we are planning to go to San Gimignano for a couple of days in the middle of our stay.
Do you think 18 months is too early to start planning for our trip?, what is the best way to get from Florence airport to Lucca?, has anybody got any recommendations of what to see and do in Lucca?, do you think it is to long to stay in Lucca?.
We would like to feel like a local and just enjoy the atmosphere and relax, we have…

We have about 12 days in Sicily- August 24 to September 4. Flying in and out of Catania and we plan to spend 1 week on the Aeolian Islands (Lipari and maybe Salina) and have a transfer booked to Lipari on Sunday the 27th.
I am trying to decide if we should head straight to Siracusa and spend 3 nights there, take an early bus Sunday morning back to Catania, or if it's better to stay in Catania and make day trips out (two days- so probably 1 day to Siracusa and 1 day to Taormina or Etna). Is 3…

Hello, this will be my first time visiting Italy with my friend and we are going all over Italy for 2 weeks. I have tried to look around for tips on transportation in Italy and have come up with the list below. Please comment on whether you think it's good or if I can save some money by switching to another option. Thank you.

Roma -> Pompei = Trenitalia (using http://www.trenitalia.com/)
Pompei -> Sorrento = Circumvesuviana local train
Sorrento -> Amalfi Coast (round-trip, day trip) = SITA bus

Hi

We have two days to add to our Italian itinerary and were considering either Lake Como or Lake Garda. Any recommendations?

We are in the midst of an extended visit to Europe, and are planning to be in Italy at the end of May. We are two adults (no kids) who are looking for recommendations for a quiet, peaceful, scenic part of the country to settle down in for 7-10 days. We would like to be near some archeological or historical sites for day trips, but mostly we are looking for peace and relaxation. The Amalfi Coast is the top of every recommendation list, but because of that, I imagine it is probably no longer so…

We are planning a trip for this winter and will likely have 2 months (start of a longer trip) to stay in Tuscany. Our kids will need some playgrounds to run in and we prefer to be in a city or town with amenities. We have been to Tuscany before but only for short trips to Florence, Siena and Lucca. We have also stayed in the country which was beautiful but too remote for our longer stay. We hope to rent a furnished apartment and be with walking distance to shops and cafes. Any suggestions on…

Hello! My fiance are spending 4 nights in Tuscany in late September. We will be leaving Venice for Tuscany on the morning of Sept 27 and leaving Tuscany to travel south to Naples on Oct 1. We are trying to figure out the best place to book our overnight accommodations. We would prefer to not move hotels during this period and to stay in the same location for all 4 nights. since we will be doing a lot of moving around on our 2 month trip through Europe and Asia. I am thinking Florence is our best…

Hi all,
Have been looking online for car hire from lake Garda in late May but having a bit of difficulty finding any car rentals online. We're wanting to drive from there to the Dolomites over a few days and then make our way into Slovenia.
Any tips? Or suggestions for alternatives?
Thanks,
Hayley

I m travelling with my 22 yo and 17 yo sons in Italy in November, including 5 days in Florence. What would be the preferred day trip: Siena/Chianti or Pisa? Or elsewhere?
Thanks
