Riding a Scooter in Rome
Blog: Ron in Rome - 19 November 2009
On travel boards I often see folks asking, should I rent a scooter to see Rome or Naples? The responses are often one-sided – Not just no, but NO, NO, NO, NO….NO! I certainly understand this as we drive a ride a motorino (scooter) and it can be quite challenging. The motorino rules are simple [...]

Roman Holidays!
Blog: Ron in Rome - 16 November 2009
The holidays are rapidly approaching… and in Rome, it’s already starting to look “a lot like Christmas.” Okay, so really it’s only a few stores but yes, there are Christmas decorations a twinkling! In the streets headed towards the Pantheon you’ll see STARS mounted in the narrow alleys. Rome is a WONDERFUL place to come [...]

Photo Friday: Tuscany with Kids
Blog: Ciao Bambino! - 13 November 2009
A visit to Tuscany is an excellent addition to any Italy travel itinerary with kids. Despite the touristy element, vacations in this region are easy to manage and there are loads of things to see and do for all ages. Family-friendly accommodations are plentiful, and little tummies appreciate all the pasta and gelato. Although there are endless wonderful cultural and historic attractions, you can’t see everything in the usual week-long trip. Five of my favorite sights ...

PignaSecca Market.
Blog: theboywhoatetheworld - 9 November 2009
Montesanto, Naples | 40°51′N, 14°17′E | November 2009 Naples is a love it or hate it city. Don’t expect to find the usual archetypal piazzas, flower-lined verandas or quaint, world heritage sights. It’s narrow, sloping streets are down and dirr-ty, full of filth and graffiti. Arriving in the evening, it was as if our taxi driver [...]

Lady on Lake Como
Blog: A Lady in London - 7 November 2009
My boyfriend and I took advantage of last week's Bank Holiday weekend to visit Italy. Our first stop was Lake Como, which has long been on our list of places to visit. We arrived in Milan early Saturday morning. Our friends picked us up at the airport and we drove north to the town of Como. After a quick snack and a stroll through the beautiful streets, we hopped on a ferry to Bellagio, one of Lake Como's most famous towns.
