People of Florence
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 8 February 2012
{ May 2011 - Florence, Italy } The heart of the city of Florence is arguably Piazza del Duomo. It is where the Duomo is, and where, I am pretty sure, one of the most visited places in Italy. So, like many of the piazzas in Italy, it is a great place to people watch. With locals trying to make a living from the tourists that flocked the piazza, ...

The Duomo : from the outside
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 1 February 2012
{ May 2011 - Florence, Italy } The most prominent landmark in Florence must be the Duomo, or the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore. One of the largest church in Italy, with the largest brick dome every constructed, the Duomo is an astounding structure no matter how you see it - from the outside and the inside. Even the view from the dome is pretty amazing, providing a great view of Florence.

Live Like a Local in Florence
Blog: Ciao Bambino! - 31 January 2012
Many families prefer renting apartments in European cities as they offer more value and living space than traditional hotel rooms. My issue with apartments is that standalone units can be a quality risk unless you are diligent about checking references (see my post on finding the best family-friendly vacation rental for more tips and links to resources). Moreover, the management of an apartment may be nonexistent which leaves you without someone to help with planning and logistics in a foreign environment.

Postcard from... the Duomo
Blog: nateniale { reflections on my travels and everything else I love } - 26 January 2012
{ May 2011 - Florence, Italy } The official name is the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore or Basilica of Saint Mary of the Flower in English. However, it is simply known as the Duomo. The facade of the cathedral in green, pink and white is beautiful, elaborate and yet soothing in its simplicity of colour.
