Lonely Planet review
Book well in advance for one of the sea-view rooms at this calmly stylish hotel on the Ortygia waterfront, at the edge of la Giudecca neighbourhood. Rooms are divided between two buildings, both with pretty tiled floors, walls in teals, grays, blues and browns, and with a minimal style and a mix of vintage and industrial details.
You'll also find a nice sun terrace with sea views, and a cosy internet area with fireplace for those without their own computer, though there is free wi-fi in most of the hotel.
Our independent authors have visited Hotel Gutkowski and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Syracuse.
Description provided by property
Located by the main landmarks of the historic centre of Siracusa, Hotel Gutkowski overlooks the sea and is comprised of 2 old buildings, which originally housed local fishermen and craftsmen.
Restored in a contemporary style, yet respectful of the Sicilian tradition, the Gutkowski boasts natural colours, intimate interior and a friendly atmosphere.
Every room of this historic establishment is a bit different from the other ones, according to its position in the property. Some of the rooms face the sea, others, quieter, overlook the surrounding rooftops or face a typical old street.
Please note that the property has no reception.
Please note that guests will pay € 10 each time they request daily maid in Jan and Feb. Please inform Hotel Gutkowski in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation.
