    The Mercato della Vucciria is a bustling market filled with shrieking vendors, staring silvery fish, swaying carcasses, fresh fruit and vegetables, and smoking meat grills. The market inspired Sicilian painter Renato Guttuso's most important work, La Vucciria (1974), described by Leonardo Sciascia as 'a hungry man's dream'.
