Hi - first post on the Italian Board.
We have four nights (3.5 days) in Rome 10-13 April 2015, and it's our first visit.
We are staying on Via del Teatro Valle, right between Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, and basically we plan to walk everywhere for our time in Rome. I was broadly looking at (1) a day southeast (Colosseum direction), (2) a day northeast (Piazza di Spagna direction), and (3) a day around Vatican City.
The "major" sights (and sites) are easy enough to research, however I was…
I'm travelling to Venice on Friday and I'm staying at the Al Lion Morosini b&b which is in Al Palazzo Lion Morosini.. did a quick check on google maps and it says I need to get a number 2 boat to it from near the Rialto Bridge. Does anyone know what time these boats run from/to? How much they're likely to cost etc?
I am visiting parts of Abruzzo, Le Marche and Tuscany from Jan 13 and Jan 13 2015.
I need transportation to each region and local drivers to visit. I am exploring areas for home. Can you recommend a local agency in I taly to handle this or a private driver to arrange and do this
I'm planning a trip to Italy for next winter. The timing is non-negotiable, as we're joining extended family for Christmas in / near Florence, so that decision is out of my hands. I'm expecting to be able to take about 4 weeks/ a month, and I'm budgeting for a bit more than backpacking, my current budget (varies a bit with variations in exchange rate) is around E45 / day for food, between E100 and E150 / night for accommodation, E400 total for internal travel, and average of E40 / day for…
Looking at going to Ischia for 3 nights when in Italy next May/June. Was looking for some advice on best place to base for a family with 2 kids. Our priorities are
- snorkelling - preferably from the beach but if we need to hire a boat one day to get to more remote spots happy to do that.
- proximity of a decent swimming beach - within 10 min of hotel.
- don't need nightclubs or loud bars.
affordable cafes/ restaurants for dinner.
Any thoughts? Which town has the best beaches?
I read a really interesting article the other day about Tuscany in Winter. I wanted to head to Tuscany from France from December 20th to January 4th and wanted to know if you guys think it's a good or bad idea. I was thinking of getting to Rome then renting a car and head to Tuscany. Cold weather doesn't scary me but I don't want to get stuck with the car in 2 meters of snow. I am a pastry chef and love Italian cuisine and want to make this trip all about awesome food and a…
Hi! We are going to spend the New Year in Rome (me, my husband, our 3 years old son and grandfather) from 31 december to 5th january...
*Are there any Christmas markets or special events for kids during those days?
*Can anybody recommend me a restaurant for the night of 31st december? (not very expensive one).
I am going to Italy mid Dec to beginning Jan with another 2 families. We wish to go to Venice for approximately 4 nights. We all have cars we have rented so we need to stay somewhere close to Venice on the mainland rather than on the island(due to the hire cars). Can you please recommend to me places to look for staying? What are the suburbs called? Each family has children aged 3 and 5 years of age - so we would like a place near parks/playgrounds/ shops/ cafe's and for exhausted…
