Lonely Planet review for Matricianella

Tucked near Piazza di San Lorenzo in Lucina, this popular, chic trattoria, with gingham tablecloths and chintzy murals, also has some streetside seating on the quiet cobbled lane. The cooking is simple, delicious and largely Roman-Jewish. Romans go crazy for the delectable fried antipasti, the artichoke alla giudia (fried, Jewish style), the meatballs and the Jewish-style stew. Booking is essential.

    Original Roman Cuisine

    giusecarrus76 recommends this,

This is a reliable place to come for Roman cuisine and friendly service in the city centre. The strong suit is the wine list, which includes a huge selection of reasonably priced Italian and non-domestic labels, many available by the glass. The cuisine holds no surprises, offering a rotating menu of classic dishes. The fried potato peel and ricotta, which you can have as a starter, are good and could be followed by rigatoni with oxtail sauce, bucatini all'amatriciana, saltimbocca alla romana (veal escalopes) or coratella (lamb's offal). When artichokes are in season, try them alla giudia (Jewish style). The sweets are traditional and the cheese board is interesting. There are some nice tables in the street that runs from Fontanella Borghese to Piazza di San Lorenzo in Lucina.
