Lonely Planet review for Da Giggetto

The atmospheric ghetto, rustic interiors, white-jacketed waiters, Roman-Jewish cooking – who needs more? Celebrate all things fried by tucking into the marvellous carciofi alla giudia and follow on with delicious calamari (fried squid). In the warmer months, fight your way to an outside table under the shadow of the ruins of the Portico d’Ottavia.

    First class tourist trap!

    ghpoll does not recommend this,

Might have been good before being mentioned in guidebooks!
These days appaling service, average food and obvious distinction made between tourists and locals.
We were sheperded into area full of tourists after specific booking for an outside table.
Side salad was thrown on table during appetizer. Two main courses were not as ordered (and recommended). Side vegetables were served, after prompting half way through main course. Only one ! wine from winelist was available. Deserts were shown on trolley , obviously factory made and not at all as mentioned on menu.(When leaving restaurant we discovered superior desserts on display inside restaurant).
All in all an experience not to be repeated.
Please remove this restaurant from your guidebook as it has become a true tourist trap!
(We were not the only unhappy customers in the restaurant that evening!)

    have the deep-fried artichokes

    melyuan recommends this,

We had a lovely lunch escaping from the wet weather. The fritters and especially the deep-fried artichokes were great.

Overwhelmed by its own good name...

    lichinga recommends this,

Definitely good food. Nice local recipes. But it's almost always overcrowded and the price is well beyond a resaonable price/quality ratio.
