Lonely Planet review for Il Bacaro
Book ahead, as Il Bacaro, tucked away on a bijou piazza, is the size of a postage stamp and always busy. It might be small but it’s perfectly formed. The meat dishes are hearty, the wine list ample and the primi imaginative – try the spaghetti con gamberi, porcini, pecorino e tartufo (spaghetti with prawns, porcini mushrooms, cheese and truffles). Summer seating spills out under a vine-covered pergola.

A Jewel in Rome's Crown
lalupa recommends this,
Il Bacaro is a remarkable find! Nestled at the top of a small alleyway behind the popular Piazza Navona, it is probably one of the smallest restaurants I have seen and visited on my travels. What the vine-draped exterior lacks in size it more than makes up for in character and quality of food, and the attentive yet unobtrusive staff will go the extra distance to make sure your visit a memorable one. Our visit was so enjoyable that we returned a further two times in our week's visit to Rome. Although booking is usually essential, you may be lucky tenough to happen along at opening time and ask if a table is available. As their menu is seasonal it may be better to check out their website for an up-to-date list of their fayre. But whatever time of year you visit Il Bacaro rest assured that you will be in for an experience that you will not forget.
