Lonely Planet review for Il Guru
Il Guru is lined with embroidered drapes and elaborate statuettes, and has a few outdoor tables on the cobbled street. The tandooris are prepared in a proper tandoori oven, the curries and vegetables are tasty and the setting is suggestive, albeit of Rome rather than Rajasthan.

Il Guru in Rome: atmosphere and food
makeda recommends this,
An escape from chaos in town with its soft relaxing ambience and a valid alternative to pizza and pasta with its delicious, fresh, lovingly cooked food.
The owner is very accomodating and will help you through the menu if you are not used to indian food. Accept his invitation to to taste entrées in the detached drawing room. Then enjoy one of the three menus: vegetables, meat, fish.
On my recent visit I had meat menu. My husband chose vegetarian menu with a selection of cheese and vegetable dishes and he found them all outstanding.
This is for us the best indian restaurant in Rome. Food's not too spicy, an attribute which apparently is more appealing to Italians than native Indians.
It's just unfortunate that we live several miles south of there !!!Good for: Romance, atmosphere, food, Budget Travellers, Groups, Solo Travellers, service, Families
