Osteria al Gambero
Also recommended this is a good fish restaurant close to the port.

Trattoria da 'Vito'
This place is so obvious that you'll probably walk right past it, but that would be a huge mistake. Da 'Vito' serves up the freshest fish in Brindisi in a nice vaulted restaurant. Expect your fish antipasti to be served crudo (raw) and look out for the rare schiuma di mare (literally 'foam of the sea'), a mass of gelatinous baby fish served with lemon, olive oil and pepper.

Ai 2 Ghiottoni
For a euro-busting blow-out sit down at Bari's premier fish restaurant, where the evening's slivery offerings (delivered fresh for lunch and dinner) literally flip-flop around in the ice-counter. From every imaginable crustacean to a host of white and oily fish, the menu and methods of cooking are encyclopaedic.

Al Canale
Gaze dreamily out of the floor-to-ceiling windows over the canal, then turn your attention to the orgy of seafood you've ordered: mussels au gratin, grilled octopus, carpaccio of bream, pappardelle with scampi and grilled mixed fish. You'll barely be able to squeeze in the lemon sorbet at the end.

Da Sergio
Smart, chic and favoured by locals, this is Otranto’s most famous fish restaurant, situated in an ace position for people-watching, smack bang in the centre of the touristy corso. There is no menu, instead you will be provided a choice of the day’s catch which is then charged by weight.

Zia Fernanda
Tucked up a side street just off the lungomare, Zia Fernanda is another formal-feeling restaurant with a heavy leather-bound menu and an extensive wine list. Again the emphasis is on fish with favourites like the seafood risotto, fish soup and octopus filling the menu.

Trattoria Gesù Cristo
Atmospheric family-friendly place southeast of the centre with a menu of seafood that really is the catch of the day (the owners run the fish shop next door). Go for a grilling with the simplest dish on the menu: freshly grilled fish with lemon.

Trattoria Pantagruele
Named after French writer François Rabelais’ satirical character, this charming trattoria three blocks from the waterfront serves up excellent fish and grilled meats, as well as scrumptious home-made desserts.

La Taverna sul Mare
A good fish place tucked in one of the busiest alleys of Bari Vecchia.
