Fashion, Menswear shopping in Milan

    Tom Ford

When Tom Ford took over Zegna’s old digs he didn’t skimp at putting his stamp on the place. A work by current artworld darling Anselm Reyle greets shoppers who are invited to join in a consensual hallucination that they’re just visiting a friend’s opulently decorated villa. There are actually five floors of madly masculine styling, all for sale. The top floors are reserved for made-to-measure clients, with a bar as well as private bitch’n’stitch lounges.

    Antonioli

Against the backdrop of this gutted former cinema, Antonioli’s brainy Belgian line-up (Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Martin Margiela et al) looks even more intelligent than usual. The store carries both men’s and women’s ranges. Look out for the well-priced Humanoid knits.

    Showroom Isola

Functioning as a gallery, ideas laboratory and shop, this creative hotspot sells very limited editions handmade clothes and homewares. A rare Milanese champion of the iconoclastic DIY aesthetic, it also stocks what might be the city’s most ironic souvenir T-shirts.

    Nana’s Thrift Store

Ah, the labels that irrefutably prove the existence of hipster culture in Milan are here (Slimfit’s handpainted T-shirts for one). Watch out for the killer kilomode sales, where samples and special editions are sold for €40 per kilo.
