Lonely Planet review for Fiorio

There’s something evocative about inhabiting Mark Twain’s old window seat as you contemplate the gilded interior of a cafe where 19th-century students once plotted revolutions and the Count of Cavour deftly played whist. And all this before your coffee has even arrived.

Enjoy a travel back to the 19th Century

    fred_torino recommends this,

Fiorio is not merely a café, is an institution. Downtown Torino you will see that the city is proud of its Royal past, and especially the 19th Century when Torino was the capital of the most modern kingdom and the one that unified Italy around itself. If you want to enjoy this feeling you should enter Fiorio and indulge in the athmosphere... and in the ice creams too.
Take your time and have a seat in the 19th century fashioned fancy tea rooms and order one of the majestic ice-cream traditional bowl and instantly you can imagine that you are discussing about politics with the French ambassador or planning your next speech in front of the king in the nearby old Parliament. Delicious ice-cream and perfect original interiors do the trick everytime.

The waiters, even though in a uniform consistent with the attire of the place, are often not that polite or attentive to the details as you would expect in this establishment.
Also the prices are in the tone of such a splendid place that use to be the meeting point of intellectuals and influential people of the city. You can also get the cheap take away ice cream but this would mean missing the real meaning of Fiorio in Torino.
