I will be travelling to Milan in Oct 2016 and have some questions as follows:
I have a transit in Jeddah (connection for 9 hours in the day). Is there anything worth seeing during the connection flight?
How well-connected is the subway, bus and tram services in Milan to all the tourist attractions?
a. Is there a mobile/desktop app which displays the stop-by-stop information for the bus/tram service which I will be taking?
i. Otherwise, what is the best way to…
I'm currently weighing up where to travel for the first three weeks of August. It'll be Eastern Europe or Italy I reckon. I know Eastern Europe will much cheaper, but I'm just curious if Italy will be too expensive for me right now.
I would be staying in hostels, using buses/trains to get from town to town and eating as cheap as possible. I'm also not a big drinker and I wouldn't bother seeing a lot of night life/clubs. However, I'd probably choose to see most tourist attractions…
And it's all on one page! From Rome, Florence or Naples you can do a day trip easily
Yes, the Man in Seat 61 has come up with a do-it-yourself plan with all the details, explanations, links,

A one-week rented car from Maggliore car rental in Milan was part of the package deal we had through Gate 1 Travel. We wrote off or shrugged off rudeness we encountered when we checked in to get the car; their rushed (mis)instructions on where to find the car; that the car turned out not to be where they said it was; that we had to show them the tank wasn't full when we got the car, as their "records" showed it was; and the absence of any basic information such as how to turn the wipers on and…
We were surprised that we barely needed any cash at all during our (all-too short) one-week visit to Tuscany. Our package deal had us flying into and out of Milan, staying in Montecatini, and included breakfast and a rental car. Visa and Mastercard, both credit and debit, were accepted at every gas station and toll booth we encountered, from Milan to Montecatini and Montecatini to Siena.
We used credit cards for the trains between Montecatini and Florence, and between Malpensa Airport and…
Leaving Palermo on May 19 for some travel around Sicily. Off to Piazza Armerina for 3 nights and 3 nights in Ragusa with airbnb. Would it be best to bus it to Catania and get a car at the airport and then drive to Piazza Armerina and nearby archaeological sites then drive to Ragusa to see other sites and then return car to Catania before returnng to Palermo for a conference. air bnb rentals already taken care of. 4 people traveling with carry on luggage.Or would it make sense and be cheaper to…
I will have a very short transfer through Pisa en route to a wedding in Florence & would love to know where I can have the best view of the Tower. Unfortunately I will be too rushed to make a proper trip (flight lands at 3:20 & train to Florence departs 7pm), but I can't imagine being in Pisa & not seeing such a famous monument. I've read the Grand Hotel Duomo nearby has a nice rooftop bar so I'm hoping to grab luggage & taxi over, have wine at bar & taxi back to train station. Given…
I've been to Italy several times, in an Interrail trip to north (Milan-Verona-Padua-Venice) and three times to Rome but It'll be my first trip south of Rome. I've booked all the accomodations beforehand but all reservations are cancelable so it's possible to make some changes. My intended itinerary is the following:
Day 1:Flight to Rome, train to Florence
Day 2:Day in Florence, evening train back to Rome
Day 3:Morning flight to Cagliari, Sardinia
Now I am in Nice and maybe in 2 days I will be in la Speziam probably around 26 April 2016. Does anybody will be around and fancy to go for some hikings together? I am brazilian and solo traveler around Europe and Asia.
Hi, I'm looking for short day trips from where I'll be staying (just north of Milan, very close to Malpensa Airport). I've already seen Milan proper and want to travel around, but I don't want to drive more than an hour. What should I see that's family friendly? Is going to Switzerland (Lugano, etc.) worth it/ doable, for example?
