Lonely Planet review for Amon

Pop in to this family-run joint for what are possibly the best kebabs in Florence. Refreshingly nongreasy, they’re served on pita bread fresh from the oven. Admire the Egyptian kitsch on the walls while you wait.

Hard to find, but worth a couple of wrong turns.

    jeanaanderson recommends this,

After living in Italy for two months, I found myself feeling something that I never expected: sick of Italian food. The mild and pleasant combinations of tomatoes, basil, garlic, lemon and a variety of proteins left me hungry for something else.

    Amon Kabob was my reprise.

In Florence, kabob restaurants have earned the reputation of "late night food," but Amon is something different. It's good. The meat is marinated perfectly, the eggplant is cooked to perfection and there is an element of authenticity. Try the tea, the kabob with egg or the kabob with eggplant, but everything at Amon is a hit.
