Lonely Planet review

Started in 1558, this mammoth structure was never fully completed. It houses a pinacoteca (art gallery) and four little museums: of archaeology, carriages, Italian unification and, the main one, the Museo Civico with its bizarre Etruscan Fegato di Piacenza , a sheep's liver in bronze that was used for divining the future!
