Eat on the patio under a leafy trellis, or in the labyrinth of rustically decorated interior rooms at this convivial trattoria, under the same ownership as Gallo d’Oro. Everything’s top quality –from the tris di tortelli (pasta pockets with three different stuffings) to the torta di cioccolato e pere (pear-chocolate cake) for dessert.

    real Italian meal

    When we went, the place was packed with locals. Try the torta frittas with a platter of local cold cuts and then pick a first and second course to share. You may want to order a contorno (side dish) of vegetables too. The vegetables weren't spectacular but it was a nice break from all of the meat and cheese we ate in Parma. Lambrusco is the local bubbly red wine and while not critically acclaimed, we love splitting a bottle and find it goes nicely with the local hams and salamis and has a little lower alcohol content. We had a nice, long, big meal here!
